Integrating maths, science, art design and technology

About Us

In March 2012, Tekioo design and technology for kids was officially registered as a NON -PROFIT-ORGANIZATION. (NPO 100834)

"Tekioo " is a design & technology programme for kids. Modern Technology has deprived children from developing many skills. Children meet at various venues where we use available indoor or outdoor space to conduct our programme sessions.

Tekioo integrates maths, science, art design and technology and presents lessons to in the form of practical workshops where we encourage young children to explore their creativity while developing practical as well as problem solving skills through activities which include woodwork, metal work, electronics and many more.

By using safe hand tools and recycled raw materials, learners are shown how to design, plan and construct a range of projects such as go-karts, electric lampshades, door-buzzers, memory boxes, bird-feeders and so much more.

Interested in joining our workshops

These design & tech workshops were started by founder Russell Brown who saw the need for young children to understand basic aspects of design & technology as well as the need for them to develop basic practical skills.

Primary Schools & Home-school groups in Cape Town have welcomed the concept and we have seen a growing interest as parents see need for their children to develop practical skills.

Regular workshops are now convened for home schooled groups of learners across the Cape Town area. Each session caters for 12 children aged 8 to 13 and lasts 3-4 hours.

Our learners are very diverse but united by their common interest. Find out more in our gallery, and join our worshops!
